ABOUT THE FIRM

An integrated engineering and technology firm.

Established operations of more than eight years, serving governments, enterprises, universities and development organisations across the East African region.

The firm.

Technology performance in our region is determined as much by supporting infrastructure as by the systems themselves. Health information systems are constrained by unreliable power. Cloud migrations are delayed by undocumented legacy databases. Renewable installations underperform where generation data is not monitored.

Moonhattan Technologies was established to address these conditions directly. The firm is multidisciplinary by design, combining software developers, cloud engineers, cybersecurity experts, electrical engineers, GIS experts, environmentalists and healthcare domain experts within common delivery teams. This structure enables the firm to assume responsibility for complete systems rather than isolated components.

For more than eight years the firm has served national and county governments, large enterprises, small and medium enterprises, universities and non-governmental organisations. Engagements range from single security audits to multi-year platform implementations. The standard applied to each is consistent: systems that are secure by design, fully documented, and operable by the client's own personnel following handover.

The firm operates across Kenya, Somalia and Uganda. Designs therefore account for intermittent connectivity, variable power supply, constrained budgets and demanding regulatory requirements as standard operating conditions.

CORE VALUES

The principles governing our engagements.

Four values direct how the firm scopes, prices and delivers work, and how it conducts itself when engagements become difficult.

Integrity

Findings are reported in full, including where they reflect adversely on work carried out by the firm. Scopes are defined accurately, pricing is transparent, and engagements outside our demonstrated competence are declined.

Client centricity

Solutions are designed around client constraints of budget, connectivity, staff capacity and procurement policy rather than around preferred technologies. Each engagement concludes with the client's team able to operate the system.

Innovation

New methods and technologies are adopted where they demonstrably reduce cost, risk or delivery time. Innovation is assessed against measurable outcomes in demanding operating conditions.

Sustainability

Systems are designed to remain maintainable, affordable and appropriate well beyond handover. Energy consumption, lifecycle cost, available local skills and environmental impact inform design decisions from the outset.

HUMAN CAPITAL

A multidisciplinary professional team.

The firm's human capital comprises software developers, cloud engineers, cybersecurity experts, electrical engineers, GIS experts, environmentalists and healthcare domain experts, supported by data analysts and project delivery managers. Teams are constituted from these disciplines according to the requirements of each engagement.

Software developers

Backend, frontend and mobile developers responsible for custom systems, integrations and application programming interfaces.

Cloud engineers

Architecture, migration, automation and cost management across public, private and hybrid environments.

Cybersecurity experts

Monitoring, incident response, penetration testing, audit and compliance across the client estate.

Electrical engineers

Power design, distribution, protection, installation supervision and commissioning.

GIS experts

Spatial analysis, remote sensing, cartography and geospatial platform development.

Environmentalists

Climate modelling input, environmental impact assessment, sustainability review and renewable energy feasibility.

Healthcare domain experts

Clinical and health service expertise informing the firm's health information and health data systems.

Data analysts

Analytics, warehousing, reporting and decision support across sectors.

Project & delivery managers

Scope control, procurement, stakeholder management and handover on complex multi-party projects.

DELIVERY METHODOLOGY

Our delivery methodology.

Every engagement follows five stages, scaled to the size of the project. The methodology establishes, for both parties, what has been agreed, what is being delivered and the point at which responsibility transfers.

Discover

Assessment of the existing environment, constraints and stakeholders. For security engagements this takes the form of an audit; for implementations, a requirements and feasibility study.

Design

Architecture, specifications, costs and risks are documented and approved before implementation begins. Security and power requirements are established at this stage rather than retrofitted.

Deliver

Build, configuration, installation or commissioning proceeds in agreed increments with client review at each. Client personnel work alongside the delivery team from this stage.

Assure

Independent testing, security validation and formal acceptance against the agreed specification, with all findings documented.

Transfer

Documentation, training and a defined support period. Completion is measured by the client's team operating the system independently.

WHERE WE WORK

Regional coverage.

The firm operates across the East African region from offices in Nairobi and Mogadishu. Conditions in these markets — intermittent connectivity, variable power supply, exacting procurement requirements and the need for local operation — are treated as standard design parameters.

Kenya

Head office at Nextgen Mall, South C, Nairobi. Clients include national and county government, financial services, universities, health institutions and the regional non-governmental sector.

Somalia

Office at Orfane Towers, Taleex, Mogadishu. Work comprises institutional systems, security, connectivity-constrained deployments and development programme delivery.

Uganda

Served from the regional offices. Engagements comprise enterprise systems, health informatics, geospatial and climate work, and public sector modernisation.

OUR DIFFERENTIATORS

What distinguishes the firm.

Security integrated into every engagement

The firm maintains a full cybersecurity practice. Security review is therefore incorporated into every implementation, migration and installation rather than procured separately on completion.

Electrical engineering capability in house

Few technology firms in the region employ qualified electrical engineers. The firm is able to specify, install and commission the power infrastructure on which its own systems depend.

Domain expertise within delivery teams

Healthcare, environmental and geospatial specialists are assigned to the implementation itself, ensuring requirements are understood directly rather than interpreted through intermediary documentation.

Eight years of regional delivery

Sustained experience of East African procurement, infrastructure and compliance conditions enables the firm to plan and price engagements accurately.

Handover treated as a deliverable

Documentation, training and a defined support period are written into every scope of work, so that ongoing dependence on the firm is not a condition of the system operating.

Single line of accountability

Multidisciplinary projects are staffed as one team under a single point of accountability rather than divided among vendors with separate reporting lines.
